Pigeons are not rare over the downtown-shoreline area of Long Beach. Maybe ‘cause tourists and locals keep feeding them the birds flock and thrive on this side of the city more than anywhere else in the area. I just know I’m at Broadway street and this flock is my first encounter of the day. Unmindul of passersby, they finished off the last crumbs on the pavement. Maybe, I’ll encounter some more of their feathery kins somewhere around the area.

Hi Danton, Thanks for your comment re my failed wildwatching! I see we were thinking along similar lines today - only your pigeons have the courtesy to stay put when you get the camera out! Interesting to see that these pigeons are much darker than the ones in the UK - but it seems pigeons the world over congregate in city centres looking for crumbs!
ReplyDeleteJanice.
We don't have a lot of pigeons here but we do have some. Most of them stay up high on the rooftops but some take a chance to go onto the ground.
ReplyDeleteI saw a more white pigeon today and it was nice to see. I wish I had my camera at that time.
Take care.
Hi, Janice. It was really a coincidence, although, based on time difference, you made the post first. But I look forward to seeing your "scoop" of that elusive bird photo.
