Skywatch Thru The Gum Tree

For lack of puffy clouds and drab sky color, the foreground tree’s branches and the not so distant brown-reddish edge of sloping pavement compensated for some details. Photo taken about 7:33PM DST.

  3. Hi Danton, nice to meet you too. This photo is really pleasing.
Branches have such nice twists. The bark is peeling, right? Don't Californians call that the manzanita tree? We have them in Israel too.
Have fun with your new blog and camera!

  8. KBguy, I shoot that photo yesterday afternoon. Was not even sure I can get one, so I took a lot and selected one for the SWF. It's summertime here.

  11. Those delicate colours of the sky are beautifully framed, and I love the warm sunlight on the branches.

  12. the trees more than make up for the lack of clouds - their twisting brances are wonderful, and nicely composed shot.

  15. erin, you know the area too well even if that part of the LA river only showed the cemented sloping riprap on the photo. it's the 710 willow exit portion.

  17. We have red dirt here, so very interested that you have it. Where we lived before coming here didn't have red dirt. In Australia most people associate red dirt with the Outback. Since this place is remote in that we don't have big shops etc. I think it is fitting.
